STREET FUCKIN TRASH

January 10, 2011

I think it was Krillz from Grime and Jon that ultimately came up with the idea of doing this collab a few months back now.  I remember Jon walked into my basement that day and knocked on my coffin a few times until I pulled the cover back, slid out my pale white hand, waved it back and fourth and said "wake me at nightfall".  He then returned at twilight with a succulent pig which I feasted on as the sun went down.  He told me all about how Krillz wanted to do a collaboration shirt and that news mixed with the surge of energy I received from the pig blood was most satisfying to say the least.

Grime is based out of Brooklyn N.Y. and, much like Only Ones, they are a new brand run by a few young guys.  While they are relatively new they have already accomplished a great deal.  Not only have they produced their own apparel, all of which is done in shop by their own hands, but they have also produced their own frame,  built in Brooklyn by their own hands!  The YOMANG! is a frame that pushes the sport of fixed gear freestyle forward, a sport that is also new.  That isn't even all that's left to say for The Grime, there are still more surprises they have coming up very, very soon but you'll have to wait for those.

When we all decided to do a collaboration shirt I knew I had the perfect idea that would mash up our brands.  Riding really is about the carefree/child-like nature of it all and I wanted to do a shirt that kind of exemplified that.  The obvious inspiration behind the shirt was the old school artwork of Big Daddy Roth and how it showcased both a love for hot rods and also a reckless abandon.  So I flipped it a bit and threw a big drunken, burly, bad-ass monster on top of a fixed gear ripping it up hard!  It's up now in our shop and also in The Grime webstore!

RIDE! RIDE! RIDE!

The Beginning: Making Episode 1
The Beginning: Making Episode 1

January 09, 2016

It's not a secret that Star Wars Episode 1 is not only a horrible Star Wars movie, it's just a horrible movie in general. Sitting through it is a task, it's so dense and filled with boring political plot points, bad acting and computer graphics. It feels more like an ILM portfolio showcasing CG techniques rather than a film.

I can remember as a kid watching it for the first time and leaving the theater confused. I thought maybe I wasn't watching as careful as I should have been? I dunno what it was but I felt like I missed something because, its Star Wars, isn't it supposed to be good? I thought, "Did I just black out for most of that movie? Was I daydreaming the whole time?" I begged my parents to take me again, so I could see what I surely missed but they wouldn't take me. I had to wait for it to come out on video when I finally realized that it wasn't just me, this shit really does just suck.
